Not only is our nickel-copper scrap blend less expensive than using prime nickel and scrap copper in a heat, but also it’s made by using very high quality scrap. Quantum Alloys ensures the chemical specifications of our scrap blends by spark testing, using a handheld metal analyzer, and performing wet melts on the material used in each blend. Quantum’s blends contain predominantly solids and turnings not grindings and powders. Using denser scrap in conjunction with the lock-top fiber drums in which the material is packaged yields greater metallic recovery. In addition, each drum contains the same scrap blend throughout the entire truckload, thus allowing customers to add our material at both the arc furnace and the A.O.D.
